And that wide-eyed appreciation looks better on no one than an year-old brunette with perfect breasts and a tight sweater. The first time she walked into my classroom, I knew that I could have her. I found her honest interest in me adorable, and her fumbling little attempts to seduce me the first day or so of class to be as endearing as they were effective. She could have never spoken to me and still held me just as captivated.

Vancouver Island University has come up with a new twist on policies in regards to student professor sexual relationships. Of course, the bureaucratization of love would seem to me to be the ultimate oxymoron. Yes, of course, that can occur. In any case, for VIU, falling in love can appropriately occur if people are of the same age and experience. Such is a rather narrow definition, is it not? In fact, VIU tells me that my parents could not have appropriately fell in love since my father was 20 years older than my mother.
For VIU when does an age difference become too much of an age difference. I guess that people of dissimilar national, ethnic and racial experiences are just not eligible for falling in love with each other. And I expect that the highly educated and the not so highly educated are also ineligible for falling in love with each other, and so on and so on, no fraternizing with people from the wrong side of the tracks. Just stick to your own kind!

One of the most satisfying aspects of teaching at the college or university level may be found in the mentoring relationship that faculty members can develop with their students.

Stanford University Garth Saloner With the changing scope of federal regulations and increased scrutiny regarding sexual assault and harassment on college campuses, more and more institutions are strongly discouraging and even banning consensual romantic relationships between students and faculty members. Abramson says he is trying to light a torch for liberty. Abramson is sharply criticizing his own employer and colleges nationwide that have adopted restrictions — and, in a few cases, outright bans — on romances between faculty and students. Of course, sexual harassment should not be allowed and no one should supervise or give grades to a romantic partner, says Abramson, who has taught at UCLA for 31 years.
But those concerns should not restrict the right of consenting adults to have a non-exploitative relationship, he argues in a new book. The rights to romance and to choose whom to love are as basic as the freedoms of speech and religion, Abramson writes in “Romance in the Ivory Tower: A university that suppresses such a choice “tramples the very nature of freedom itself,” he declares. Readers looking for sexy material will be disappointed by his page volume, unless they get turned on by constitutional law and copious references to Jefferson, Madison and the 9th Amendment.
There are no steamy scenes of stolen kisses in library cubicles. But the book has steamed some critics. University leaders say anti-dating rules protect students, usually graduate students, who may feel their education is at risk when a relationship ends. As expected, the book has triggered a few smirky comments about its author, who teaches courses on human sexuality and whose previous writings tackled such topics as abuse and incest, the spread of AIDS and the history of sexual freedom.
Conservative critic Dinesh D’Souza called Abramson’s constitutional arguments a “legal absurdity” and wrote in his online column that the UCLA professor “is certainly entitled to cruise the bars of Los Angeles if he wants to. I just think he should leave his copy of the Constitution behind. If I’m the campus Casanova, then the campus has a lot of problems,” said the professor, who has longish graying hair, a goatee and an earring.
